Sometimes all we can do is ask God for wisdom, do what is right as best as we know how, and trust Him with the outcome.
This prayer goes along with #53, “When Doing Right Is Hard.” The devotion talks about what it feels like to be backed into a corner, trying to make the right choices while dealing with hurt, exhaustion, and situations you cannot control. This prayer is the response to that struggle.
Sometimes you can be trying your best to do the right thing and still feel completely stuck.
You may be hurt, tired, taken for granted, or unsure what your next step should be. Maybe every choice seems to affect someone else, and there is no easy answer that keeps everybody happy.
That is when it becomes even more important not to let hurt, anger, or exhaustion make the decision for you.
Doing what is right does not always mean staying quiet, saying yes, or pretending everything is okay. Sometimes it means waiting. Sometimes it means speaking up. Sometimes it means setting a boundary or admitting that something needs to change.
The hard part is knowing the difference.
Romans 12:18 says, “As much as it depends on you, do your best to live at peace with everyone.”
There is a part that belongs to us. We are responsible for our words, our attitude, our choices, and how we respond. We cannot control what everyone else does with that.
Sometimes all we can do is ask God for wisdom, do what is right as best as we know how, and trust Him with the outcome.
