Sometimes faith looks like admitting something is not working anymore.
We can spend a lot of energy trying to hold everything together, figure out every possible outcome, and make sure nothing goes wrong. At some point, though, we may need to stop forcing the same direction and trust God with what comes next.
That does not mean we stop using wisdom or making thoughtful choices. It means remembering that we are not responsible for controlling every step after the decision.
This prayer is for those moments when you need the courage to say, “Well, that’s enough of that,” and move forward without having the whole plan figured out.
Scripture for Reflection
Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.
In Other Words
We may decide which way we want to go, but God can still guide each step along the way.
God,
I know I like to have a plan, a backup plan, and apparently a backup plan for the backup plan.
But I do not need to control every outcome.
Help me recognize when something is no longer working and give me the courage to stop forcing it.
Give me wisdom for the next step, peace when the direction changes, and enough humility to admit when it is time to say, “Well, that’s enough of that.”
Keep me close to You, willing to listen, and ready to move when You lead.
Amen.
