ARROWS | A Reflection

Turning What Hurt Into Something God Can Use

Sometimes the story does not change, but the way we hear it does.

This reflection of “Arrows” carries the same lyrics and the same truth, but with a new sound, new artwork, and a little more light in the way the story is told.

Scripture Reflection

Genesis 50:20 (NIV)
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

The arrows were real, and so were the betrayal, disappointment, regret, loss, temptation, broken relationships, and seasons we never asked for.

But none of those things get to decide what happens next.

Joseph could not change what had been done to him, but when he looked back, he was able to see something greater than the wound. What others intended for harm had been carried into a purpose they could not see at the time.

That is part of the heart behind “Arrows.”

The Heart Behind the Reflection

There comes a point when we begin to realize that surviving the arrow was not the end of the story.

God can use what we have walked through to shape wisdom, compassion, strength, freedom, and purpose, and sometimes the very thing we thought would only leave a scar becomes part of the testimony that helps someone else keep going.

Maybe the arrow left a scar, and maybe there are still pieces of the story you do not completely understand. Even so, what tried to bury you does not have to remain buried inside you.

God can redeem the ground where it landed.

Sometimes, when we look back from a little farther down the road, we begin to recognize mercy in places where we once could only see defeat.

The arrow may be part of the story, but it does not get the final word.

God does.
